Quick Tip! Change the Number of Posts On Your Homepage

Tue, 11/24/2009 - 3:47PM by sabs 1 Comment - 101 Views

Whether you post daily or a month, it's great to control how your content looks. By default OnSugar shows 10 posts on your homepage. However, you can easily change this to 1, 5, 10, or 25. To do so, click on "Blog Settings" in your blog dropdown menu. Scroll to the bottom where you'll see an area for Posts Per Page. Change the number and click Save.

If you're wondering why you'd want to change the number, check out PopSugar Daily. It's a perfect example of why you might want to display one post at a time.

Quick Tip! Set Your Site Apart With a Site Icon

Tue, 11/17/2009 - 3:45PM by sabs 4 Comments - 230 Views

When I have a few minutes to spare, I head over to the Explore section to find new sites. I love going through the popular and hot posts, but lately I've found myself drawn to the Active Blogs area. And I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but if a site has a great site icon, I'm more likely to click on it. I'm sure this is true for many others too, so if you don't have a site icon, what are you waiting for?

Learn how to set your icon when you read more.

Get Featured on the PopSugar Network!

Fri, 11/13/2009 - 11:16AM by sabs 7 Comments - 303 Views

Each week the PopSugar Network editors scour OnSugar sites and select their faves. When they find posts they like, they highlight them on their sites (PopSugar, YumSugar, etc.), giving you full credit and links back. In fact, any comment left on their sites will automatically show up on your site too. It's our way of sharing traffic with you!

Sound enticing? Then make sure the "Feature" box on your Blog Settings page is checked. Our editors will only be using sites that have given us permission to feature them. Just remember, unchecking the box will also get you removed from the Explore page.

Want to see an example? Here's a post from Cakes Icecreams Tarts And that appears on YumSugar.

And if you think you've written a post that should be featured, let us know! We want to make sure your great content gets seen by all!

Quick Tip! Follow Any Conversation Without Leaving a Comment

Tue, 11/10/2009 - 2:36PM by sabs 1 Comment - 145 Views

Time to fess up. I know that some of you are lurkers. You read your favorite OnSugar blogs daily -- including all the comments -- but you never participate yourself. For those of you in this camp, you might want to listen up. There's actually a quick way to subscribe to all comments.

Getting comments via email is easy. Your first option is to leave a comment and click the "Post & Subscribe" button. However if you want to stay quiet, you can click the subscribe link instead. At the bottom of each comment section, you'll find a sentence telling you your subscription status. If you want to change it, just click the link! You can always change your mind later.

With this tip in your back pocket you'll never miss another comment. And who knows, maybe you'll see one that will make you break your silent streak!

Be Your Own DJ - Personalize Your Blog With Music

Wed, 11/04/2009 - 12:36PM by sabs 9 Comments - 437 Views

Although OnSugar allows you to upload MP3s to your blog -- just use the audio post type -- I get a lot of emails from folks who want to add songs to their sidebar. While I personally don't recommend loud music that plays automatically, I do love the idea of adding a playlist to your site. It's a fun way to express yourself and it's easy too.

To add music to your sidebar, all you have to do is add some code into a widget. I've gone through some of the options out there, and have rounded up a selection of services for you to try. There's a ton of folks creating music widgets, so if you've got one you like, share it with us below.
