Question 20: Where do you live now and how does it affect your passions?

Having recently moved to San Francisco, I'm finding I'm spending a lot more time outside, enjoying the natural beauty around me. Therefore, I'm spending less time in the movie theater, although I've discovered one that is an extraordinary place to see a film — the Sundance Kabuki Theatre. You pick out your seat when buying a ticket, so you are guaranteed that exact spot, plus you get to bring food and alcohol in with you! It's a revelation. So not only am I doing what I am passionate about, watching movies, but I am surrounded by food, my other indulgence! So even though a San Francisco February is too gorgeous to be inside, I am enjoying seeing movies in a whole new way.

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. So it's important to keep track of the things you want to do, so make a bucket list and check in with it every once in a while to ensure you're on your way to fulfilling your dreams

1. Ride in a helicopter — Despite my trepidation of flying, I think that this would be an incredibly freeing experience.
2. Learn another language — So I'm signed up to take French classes around the corner from work!
3. Write a book — There was a time I thought I wouldn't have anything to write about. Boy, was I wrong.
4. Go on safari — Oh to go to Africa, and see the wilderness I've only seen on Animal Planet.
5. Attend the Olympics — While I really enjoy watching it on NBC, there must be nothing like being there, cheering on your country and waving our flag.

You think we need one more? Yeah, we should probably get one more.

6. Marry the love of my life — Because who doesn't want to spend every day with their best friend?

Forever an Anglophile, I have fallen in love with Downton Abbey, a British television period drama series on PBS. Beginning in 1912, with the sinking of the Titanic, it tells the story of three daughters of an earl who cannot inherit their family's estate, unless through an arranged marriage. But more importantly, it tells the story of the relationships between the Crawley family and their servants, and the era's dynamics between the young and old, the elite and the poor. After all, they believed that there is "nothing worse than a maid serving a duke" and that after marriage, a woman's "husband will tell her what her opinions are." So why would I want to live in this time? Well, the fashion is incredible, and I'm enthralled with the importance of family loyalty and inheritance being of the utmost importance. So while a very difficult time to be a woman, a very intriguing one.

It was also the time when cinema was being born, and I think it must have been amazing to see your first moving picture. After all, look at the excitement that The Artist has brought back to movies.

Question 16: Have you been successful in keeping your New Year's resolutions?

Where did January go? And why do we make resolutions at all? I imagine most of us vow to quit smoking, make a career move, get organized, save money, and lose weight every year around this time.

Truthfully, I have not been concentrating that hard on my resolutions, and I'm glad this question came along to remind me. Maybe February is my month! It's never too late to start, after all. So enough excuses about the lack of time and constant fatigue. Time to make a plan. After all, they've done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.

Question 15: What things in life should always be free?

It is often said that the best things in life are free. The very valuable things in life don't cost a penny: the air we breathe, love of family, friends, and significant others, and good health. It is too difficult to limit it to three when shelter, food, health, clean drinking water, the freedom to live life as one pleases, and the right not to be judged should all be free as well. But there are three that stand out to me:

• Laughter

A habit worth developing, and something not to be taken for granted. Give it out, accept it, and don't take things so seriously!

• Second chances

A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about "what if" and start embracing what would be.

• Kindness

A small smile, a handwritten note, and light squeeze is all it takes for someone to recognize that they are seen. I have always depended on the kindness of strangers, but reciprocating kindness is far more important than just the acceptance of it.

Question 14: What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly . . . . No, I kid, my guilty pleasure has to be food. Indian, Japanese, chocolate mud pie, I eat it all. In fact, the only two things I don’t eat are cottage cheese and melon, either separately or together.

Since I’ve moved out to the West Coast, an omelet and BLT are forever changed in my eyes with the addition of some slices of avocado. I had never even heard of Bolani until I went to the nearby farmers market and tried a sample. Artichokes, oh you crazy Californians! Wait, wow, these are amazing. All these delicious and fresh new things at my fingertips make me wonder what I was eating in NYC my whole life! Oh yes, pizza, bagels, and black and white cookies. Although I miss them, I’m too busy enjoying the freshness that these wonderful markets provide. After all, the pizza in New York City isn’t going anywhere.
